Join us at IPLC2015 to hear about exciting new advances in physical literacy and how it can be incorporated into everyday life. We'll also highlight 25 innovative poster presentations from professionals across the sectors - such as Chris Fenlon-MacDonald's "Don't Walk in the Hallway" project featured below!

Don't Walk in the Hallways!

Calgary's Panorama Hills School has implemented the Don't Walk in the Hallway project to encourage children to be active, safe and respectful as they transport through the school hallways.

By laying down a mathematically sound pattern of coloured tiles in one of the hallways, Chris Fenlon-MacDonald has discovered a way for children to increase physical activity, develop physical literacy and fundamental movement skills, improve executive functioning and focus in class, build social connections, and think critically about their actions.

CANADA GAMES 2017 – AGE CONFIRMED

We are now able to confirm that the age category for softball at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba will be U21 for both Men’s and Women’s softball.

Men’s softball is currently scheduled for - Week 1  (July 28 to Aug. 4,)

Women’s softball is scheduled for -              Week 2  (August 6-13).

As a result of the Federal and Provincial/Territorial Sport Committee’s (FPTSC) recommendations, National Sport Organizations have the authority of setting the age category according to their LTAD model and with input from the P/T’s, which we have gathered from you over the past several month. The FPTSC also provided a description of what they are looking for in athletes competing at the Canada Summer Games, and that description falls in line with our U21 age category.

Another outcome of the FPTSC’s recommendations is for each sport to develop “Competition Guidelines” for participating teams, which we will be working on over the next year.
