Job Title: Long Term Development Program Officer / Office Duties

Location: Based out Halifax  – must have transportation

Closing Date:  June 3rd ,2016 or until position is filled

Hourly Salary: Competitive Student Rate

 

Description: This is a Summer Student , 8 week position.  The individual will assist in coordinating the Provincial Learn to Play Grassroots Program and the delivery of it to various Associations. Successful applicant will also be assigned office duties at the Halifax Office.

Qualifications: Applicant must be a Full time student between the age of 16– 30 years old and must be returning to University in the fall. Applicant must be a Canadian Citizen or Official Landed Immigrant, Individual must have a valid driver's license and available transportation.

Great tune up for teams heading to Canadian Championships. We already have several Men’s and Women’s 2017 Canada Games teams signed up.

 $275 Entrance Fee-Guaranteed 4 games

 Deadline-July 1, 2016. First teams to pay are in. Payment guarantees spot. The goal is for 8 teams per division and we will adjust accordingly for fewer than 8.

 Lloyd Poirier was a Level Five, Internationally certified umpire when he passed away on June 29, 2009. He had worked the 2008 ISF Junior Men’s Worlds, 2008 ISC 2 Tournament of Champions and numerous Canadian and Eastern Canadian Championships. He was a Regional Umpire in Chief in Nova Scotia and a well respected and liked umpire, who travelled all over North America umpiring softball. This tournament is organized in his honour, and to help prepare the umpires attending Canadian Championships from Nova Scotia this year.

The Cardinals claimed the 2015 Eastern Canadian Intermediate ‘C’ Fastball Championship at Neville Park in Whitney Pier on Sunday with a 4-1 victory over The Lakes of Fenelon Falls, Ont. A week prior, the Cardinals won their division at the 2015 Canadian Masters Fastball Championship in St. Claire, Que. The club also captured the annual Action Week Fastball Tournament and took home the provincial title as well. In the final, tournament top pitcher Robert Bernard tossed a three hitter with 10 strikeouts for the win on the mound. Tournament MVP R.J. Barrett launched a three-run homer in the first inning. The Cardinals finished the tournament undefeated. They earned a berth in the final with a 3-1 semifinal victory over the host Alexandra Street Turbo Delivery White Sox. Anthony Phillips pitched the win, while Wade Googoo took the loss. Dennis Munroe launched a solo homer and Darren MacDonald hit two singles for the Cards. Mark Comer swatted a solo home run for the White Sox. In the round robin, the Cardinals bested the Eskasoni Diamondbacks 7-3, The Lakes 10-7 and the Eskasoni Raiders, 8-0. In the bronze medal game, the White Sox blanked the Gesgapegiag Braves of Quebec, 7-0. Jeff Clements was the winning pitcher and threw a perfect game, retiring all 15 batters he faced in five innings of work. He recorded two strikeouts. Kenny Long and Joe Mike Christmas hit a double apiece for the consolation winners, while Chris Keough hit a triple and Comer added a single.

eLearning Series helps coaches gain the knowledge and skills required to ensure the safety of their athletes.
